George Montgomery strikes gold in The Eye of the Eagle
Anyone who has ever caught a glimpse of a shiny fleck of gold in rich black sand knows how gold fever can drive a man to spend hours to weeks panning for gold in the hopes of striking it rich. George Montgomery writes of such a fever and the effects it has on the lives of the people in the northern Georgia town. The Eye of the Eagle is a fast paced entertaining novel as well as a historical account of the effect the gold rush had on the Cherokee tribe. It leaves you wondering if the tale is true, and if there may in fact be an eye of the eagle somewhere in the Georgia hills

Faith Founded on Fact : Essays in Evidential Apologetics
Published in Paperback by Canadian Institute for Law, Theology & Public Policy, Inc. (October, 1978)
Author: John Warwick Montgomery
Average review score:

A technical exposition of evidential Christian apologetics
Montgomery is one of the foremost exponents of evidential apologetics in evangelical Christian circles. In this collection of essays, Montgomery seeks to explain, defend and commend the use of evidence in Christian apologetics. He contrasts his position particularly with the presuppositionalist camp (Carl Henry, Van Til). Most of the essays are at a technical level. Topics treated include a defence of miracles, how Muslims do apologetics, Dr Samuel Johnson as an apologist, Biblical inerrancy, and Lutheran approaches to apologetics. It should be required reading in tertiary studies on Christian apologetics.

Fanny Herself
Published in Hardcover by Univ of Illinois Pr (Txt) (May, 2001)
Authors: Edna Ferber, J. Henry, Lawrence R. Rodgers, and James Montgomery Flagg
Average review score:

An engaging, personal, affirming biography.
The daughter of a Hungarian-born father and Milwaukee-native mother, Edna Ferber spent much of her childhood years in small midwestern towns. Her family, while not observant, always closed their store for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, never missing a Passover seder. Ferber felt that being Jewish was to be subjected to anti-Semitism. In 1917 she wrote Fanny Herself, based largely on the experiences she had while growing up in Appleton, Wisconsin and later in Chicago, Illinois. Her's is a tale of a young Jewish girl trying to become a successful businesswoman in early twentieth century America without denying her Jewish roots or subverting her social conscience. This newly abridged, four cassette, six hour audiobook edition (wonderfully narrated by Suzanne Toren) will introduce a whole new generation of listeners to a remarkable literary talent and an engaging, personal, affirming biography.

A Farm Country Christmas
Published in Hardcover by Voyageur Press (September, 1999)
Authors: Amy Rost-Holtz, Patricia Penton Leimbach, and L. M. Montgomery
Average review score:

Country Christmases really are the best!
A wonderful find for country aficionados and for those who relish the sentimentality of Christmas. The writing is excellent and the illustrations picture perfect. The collection of essays and other contributions from the likes of L.M Montgomery (of "Anne of Green Gables" fame), Laura Ingalls Wilder and Bob Artley set the perfect tone. The many beautiful photographs and folk paintings of rural winter scenes in addition to old photographs of farmhouse Christmas pasts likewise evoke just the right mood for the holiday season. This book is for anyone who lives in the country, would like to live in the country and who loves Christmas.

Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery, 1887-1976 : A Selected Bibliography
Published in Hardcover by Greenwood Press (November, 1999)
Author: Colin F. Baxter
Average review score:

Field Marshall Montgomery
This and its predecessors are books for all seasons about a man for all seasons. We all owe our lives to him. It is a book for the hard working and the pampered, for nations that cut funds for their Veterans Administrations like the United States has almost continually done, and for parents who wonder how much more to pamper their little darlings so that they will be loved as fathers and mothers. Montgomery beat the best that Hitler could send against him and us, and he did the same wherever he was sent. His expertise was strategy, not politics, not taking advantage of interns or skipping out on his wife. We need a few more like him.
